Julia Engel lives an active lifestyle having 7 pacemakers in 31 years. Born with a VSD and later diagonosed with chronotropic incompetence and heart block, a pacemaker has provided me to live an active lifestyle. Julia likes to run, cycle, grow fresh vegetables and spend time with her husband Doug and Charlie the border collie. Julia's favorite hobby is to run because in high school due to her heart condition the cardiologist told her not to participate on the track team.

- I am a 48 year old recipient of a Boston Scientific Altrua60 pacemaker. I received the seventh battery replacement in October 2008. I want to share my life experiences with others to show that having a medical device is not a limiting factor. Living with a pacemaker has allowed me to have a very active and normal lifestyle.
